Old School

When was the last time you’ve written a letter? Or a card? Not an online e-card or an e-mail, but an actual, honest-to-goodness, snail mail letter or card?

With the strong call to utilize Internet marketing, social networking etc – I’m wondering if we’re starting to write off (no pun intended) the traditional “networking” methods?

Think about it – when was the last time you received a letter? And didn’t that make you feel good that the Sender took the time out of his day to contact you in this manner?

As much as we’re linked online, with social and business networks, websites, blogs and emails – don’t forget, that Old School has its own charm and benefits. If you really want to keep in touch with someone in between events – take the time, write a letter. Be different.

What do you think?

  1. Sent a letter to my new found family in Germany the day after New Years day. I sent a bunch of pictures and a letter.

Now I found my niece and cousin have internet so they are emailing me. A lot quicker as air mail takes a week.

  2. Jay,
That’s awesome that you found your family. Guess it was the initial letter that got it started!

No reason not to continue online – specially with the current “mail situation” in Germany!

  3. Air mail takes a long time and the internet allows us to try and translate it somehow. But there is nothing like a good old fashioned personal note.

  4. We’ll see as my brother sent a package to us on Monday. He thinks we’ll get it on Saturday. You know I’ll be at the P.O. everyday. LOL

We did try over the years but to no avail. I would say it was google that was the key to finding my birth mother.

Have you been to Ziel au Main?

  5. Moni – I agree – nothing better than getting a personal note/letter. I’d even go so far as to challenge you to ask any soldier what they are waiting for daily, while deployed!

Jay – Google rocks! :-) Good luck with the package!
As for Ziel – no, I’m not familiar with it. Bavaria, the south/west region, Austria, Switzerland – yes. But not Ziel. Sorry.
